Our new Deck. Nearly there... at last!

Not what I needed after a week ill with some flu & asthma thing but, after waiting months & months & getting worried we may have blown our deposit, our Deck & Patio Specialist finally turned up & we got home to wood & beams & holes all over our back yard!

True to his word that, "once we get started it wont take long" Muzza turned up unexpectedly & started hacking away enthusiastically at the lawn & paving but as we didn't get any warning that he was coming... we had to ask him to stop so we could put in 2 soak wells... this despite his assertions that "you don't really need soak wells... the rain will run away under the deck...". Hmm. I think NOT Murray!

And what an effort THAT was! Removing over 1000 paving bricks & then digging 5 holes to get the 2 soak wells in (this becasue after digging down a few feet & finding old sewer pipes & draining pipes in each of the first 3 holes!) we finally got there. NOT how I wanted to spend my Sunday off especially after being unwell all week but hey, what do you do?! Anke was a machine as well so we got it all done albeit exhausted by that evening... & let Murry get stuck back in the next day. How excitement!!!
