Anke's new Trek Racing Bike!

For a few weeks before Christmas we spent some time investigating a new road racer for Anke... and this is what she bought herself - a Trek WSD (Woman Specific Design) carbon fibre model and wow, is it flash! (and SO light!). Anke loves riding and hope's to join a race team (one that doesn't take it too seriously she says... but I'm not sure such a thing exists!) as well as join a regular group to train with.

Her biggest challenge has been getting used to the new shoes - they 'click' in to the pedals... "click clack" shoe's I call them as that's the sound they make when the 'serious' riding groups descend on you when you're just relaxing and having a coffee and trying to read the paper in one of the good local coffee shops on any given Saturady or Sunday morning.... they descent like a flock of seagulls and come in "clacking" all over the place... argh!! The first time Anke tried to ride in them she fell over... forgetting that once your feet are locked in then you can just take them off the pedal! Ouch... fortunately there were no serious scratches on the bike ;-)
