Shell Beach in Shark Bay


I've heard of Shell Beach in Shark Bay but had never been there before & it was really incredible! The shells are several metres thick (yes, metres!) & under the top layer they have become compacted down over the years and are rock hard... SO hard they used to cut it into blocks & build houses out it (true!). First we visited the old mine near the beach (where they cut teh blocks) & then went for a walk on the shells - where there is NO sand at all... ALL the white you can see is actually tiny shells! It was SO weird to walk on...
